This is a new one for me, I’m taking images and facts from an official press release. Design Milk gets credit for actually introducing it to me though! However since Bloom Blanket has an official website and a press release, and I’m press in the vaguest possible sense I’m totally using it.
But this blanket deserves a press release, because it’s making me happy on so many levels. It’s snuggly, it’s soft, and it’s a tetrahedral model. It’s Italian Cashmere Wool. The captured air creates extra insulation. It’s stunningly beautiful.
And it’s actually available for sale on Kickstarter for the next 10 days. Don’t bother with sticker shock, I’m amazed she’s pricing it that inexpensively. Good quality materials and craftsmanship are expensive. But design geeks are ok with that, which is they are almost 12x their original pledge as of the time of this post.
The designer is Bianca Cheng Costanzo, who was inspired by her family’s heritages to combine origami and Italian textiles, further influenced by her studies at MIT. Congratulations on an amazing debut, Oak Form! I can wait to see what else you come up with.
